Checklist
Getting a pool ready after a long summer away or before renting out a villa
Start with safety: the enclosure, gate, cover and rescue equipment. Then restore the water level, restart the pump only with water in the strainer, clean the filter, and test and balance the water before anyone swims. Before a handover, record the condition of the pool and equipment, leave the water-test log and manuals, and agree in writing who maintains the pool.

Guide
Pool maintenance contracts: what they cover, what they exclude and how to compare offers
A good contract covers the routine work the authorities expect: regular cleaning, filter care, water testing and dosing, equipment checks and a written log. Repairs, parts, chemicals, laboratory tests and specialist work are the items to pin down, so get every inclusion and exclusion in writing and compare offers line by line.

Sandstorms, dust and summer heat: what they do to pool water, filters and equipment
Clear the surface and baskets, vacuum the settled dust, check the filter pressure and clean or backwash the filter as the manufacturer recommends, then test and adjust the water. Strong sun breaks down chlorine quickly in outdoor pools, and pumps need shade and airflow, so summer calls for more frequent testing and a closer eye on the plant room.
